Search Engine Optimisation - International Markets Perspectives

Search Engine Optimisation is the process of improving the quality of traffic on a website. Nowadays, it has become one of the successful internet strategies. If you look into the target market, you will find that these techniques are highly tuned to the major search engines. The competition and market shares of the search engines vary from market to market. In 2003 Danny Sullivan showed that Google had about 75% of all searches. Even in the year 2007, Google remained the dominant search engine in many markets of the world. In Germany Google had about 85-90% in 2006 and in UK its shares was about 90% in 2008.

Moreover, there are many markets where Google is no more leading and other search engines like Baidu, Naver, Yandex and Seznam, Yahoo! Japan, are market leaders. In consideration to all these points, I suggest that for the successful search engine optimisation for international markets, you should come up with professional translation of web pages. You should go for the registration of domain name only with top level domain. Regardless of the language, the basic elements of optimisation are same therefore, the change is not as big as most of the professionals shape.

Do You Need Secure Socket Layer Certificate?

Many businesses are shifting from traditional to online businesses. However, in order to enhance the trustworthiness of the websites, the online websites have to go for some certifications which may enhance their reliability and legitimacy.

One of the technologies is Secure Socket Layer technology. I have seen people always confused whether they should go for SSL certificate or not. I have found five conditions which are make SSL certification important for a website. Firstly, if you operate an online store and accept online orders through credit cards then SSL certificate is important for you. Secondly, if you require a login or sign-in then SSL certificate is required. The third condition of SSL certificate is that if you process sensitive information of the customers like their addresses, ID card numbers etc then it is always better to go for SSL. Fourthly, for complying with the privacy and security requirements, SSL enhances your legitimacy. Moreover, if you expect others to trust you and you also value privacy then go to sslstar to get ssl on sale at market competitive rates.

In addition, ssl recommendations can also help you to select the right certificate for your specific applications.

Understanding Your Keyword Results

These days, most people are starting to take note of the importance of keyword research. Mainly due to the successes it brings. What can put people off though is understanding the results yielded by the keyword research software. There is no point being presented with vast amounts of data if you can’t interpret it after all.

Most keyword research applications first start by requesting a seed term from you. This can be your product, service or even a keyword in itself which you know is popular. The application will then offer alternative phrases in a thesaurus style and in turn, offer longer strings that encompass said phrase within it.

With each of the above phrases, you will most likely get a daily traffic count. The amount the phrase has been searched for within 24 hours and a competitor count. This is a great way of identifying phrases that have good daily search figures and are low in competition. Some keyword research software also does a calculation of these figures for you to score each phrase with a view of determining what’s best to go after.

By setting up your campaigns using such an application and monitoring them using a ppc monitor for example, you can tweak your campaigns and achieve huge success.

Internet Marketing For Online Businesses

If there is one marketing method that is becoming more and more popular it is Internet marketing for online businesses. For the most part, Internet Marketing only targets online business. Businesses with their point of sale being situated solely online. There is some online marketing done for businesses without an online store, but they at least have some online presence such as a small information site detailing their address, service and contact details.

Internet Marketing for only businesses mainly consists of SEO or Search Engine Optimisation, however, more and more businesses are opting for paid search or PPC (pay per click) marketing campaigns and are only paying for people who actually visit their website as opposed to investing funds in expensive search engine optimisation and search engine marketing campaigns.

To be honest, the competition in any niche these days on the Internet is immense and no online business can really compete without some form of online advertising be it ppc, seo or otherwise. Being number one in your respective niche can turn your business into a multimillion dollar business from a small hobby. The numbers are that vast. SEO and online marketing can also make or break your project.

Developing a website is tough. You have to design the layout and after you have launched the website you will need to think of ways to promote you website so everyone knows about it. However, there are a few tips that can help you in your web development process and make life easier. The first thing you need to remember is the navigation of your site. The navigation should be easy and simple. Some websites contain complicated navigation buttons and it is messy when you have different navigation buttons for the same thing. Another thing to keep in mind is when you design your site, you might want to consider designing it in a way that allows you to put in ads - especially at the hot spots.

To have excellent internet marketing, you should check out the different scripts such as javascript, php and asp. This is because your website might appear differently on different browsers. To make sure that your website appears the way it should be, you must put in a valid doctype. This doctype will tell the browser how to display your site the correct way. Another tip for online marketing is to have great content. Content is king now, in a sense. Search engines love great content. Of course when it comes to great content, it means having a certain percentage of keywords related to your business there. If you follow these tips well, you are on your way to a better development.

Trade Shows Do Help

No matter what type of product you’re trying to sell, advertise, market, and otherwise profit from, there’s bound to be a trade show to promote it. Sometimes these shows are overlooked as a lot of hassle for not a lot of pay-off. But the reality is, trade shows can be very valuable in a number of obvious and not-so-obvious ways. The obvious ways include: getting your product out there where people can see it, being able to network with a lot of people in the same area of the business world as yourself, and seeing what the competition has to offer. Some of the more obscure advantages to attending a trade show include: seeing how your staff works, picking up tips on what to do (and not do!) from other vendors, and simple practice at evaluating how you execute a plan. Yes, I said a couple of dreaded words: evaluate and plan. It is important to have a plan for the tradeshow, though you need not spend 24/7 planning it for two weeks. Put thought into who is going to attend the tradeshow, which products you’re going to highlight, develop some literature (pamphlets, brochures, flyers, even a new business card) that is cost-effective but gets the point across (i.e. print the lit at your own office! No need to spend a ton of money at a printer in this day and age of advanced home-and-business office printing technology), and then debrief when it’s over. Follow-up on contacts that you’ve made, see if your staff felt successful and productive, and apply what you’ve learned to the next trade show. Like many things, your attitude plays a part in what you will get out of the trade show, so expect something positive and ye shall receive.

Choosing a Reliable Webhost

There are thousands and thousands of webhosting companies available to choose from, and with such a great variety choosing the right, reliable host can be a chore.  So here are some simple tips to choose a reliable webhost:

Support

Customer service and support is often the most crucial deciding factor for many when choosing host.  Look for a host that provides telephone and email support.  Many also offer live chat support which can come in handy.  They should also offer 24/7 support.

Uptime

Before signing up for a host do a bit of research to see if your host has a good uptime record.  Try a Google search with the hosts name and the keyword “downtime”.  Make sure they offer an uptime guarantee were they will refund your payment if they go down or have less than 99.9% uptime.

Control Panel

Look for a host that meets your needs - what scripts will you be using?  Do you require special plugins, features etc.  The majority of hosts of cPanel as the backend which I highly recommend.  MediaTemple also has a brilliant control panel.

Guarantee

Finally, look for a “30 day guarantee” where the host will refund your purchase if you are not satisfied.  This is a great way to try out hosts and don’t be afraid to ask for your money back.

The Secrets To Running a Proxy Site

Wed, Jun 11, 2008

Running a proxy site can be extremely profitable if you combine the right marketing tactics with the right software and hosting.  My proxies can make anywhere from $5 - $20 a day with Adsense and here are my secrets to running a proxy site.

Hosting

Proxy sites use a lot of bandwidth so you will need a good host that accepts proxy sites.  Most shared hosting services don’t allow Proxies.  I recommend TechEntrance - they have been around for a while and offer a really good service that is both cheap and has amazing uptime.   You can also try a VPS (virtual private server) or dedicated solution depending on whether you want to run a network or not.  Don’t try running your proxy site on your existing shared hosting account - you will get your account suspended and really blow your bandwidth budget.

Promotion and Traffic

Sending through quality traffic to a proxy is dead simple. Stay completely away from Topsites and you will be fine - I have never used topsites and all my proxies do well.  Start by stumbling your site using StumbleUpon and then head on over to Google Groups and find a group for proxies (there are lots).  And finally take a look at LinkedProxy which is a newsletter which you advertise in.  These three methods (repeated) will continue driving a good steady flow of visitors.

Sell Up

I recommend selling a proxy after running it for a few weeks.  This will complete your investment and make you some quick cash to expand your network.  Never get attached to a proxy - they get blocked by the schools eventually and its better to sell while its doing ok.

Optimize

Try a range of different themes, scripts and domains.  Don’t put all your eggs in the one basket.  Some themes will deliver better click through rates then others and some domains just don’t seem to work.  btw. I always use cheap .info domains as I have found that it doesn’t seem to matter whether you use .com, .net or .info domains.

SEO

Having your proxy listed in search engines will provide the best conversion rates on your ads and the best quality traffic.  Remember, use keywords in your title, have quality text on the page and submit it to Google for faster inclusion.

How to Market and Promote a Website

Mon, Jun 9, 2008

There are many different ways to market and promote a website, each with their own pros and cons.  Some cost money and others are free.  Here are my top methods for promoting a new website online.

StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon has the potential to send thousands of visitors to your website in just a few hours.  More information on StumbleUpon here.  SU traffic is often not very targeted and may not stay around on your site for very long.  The Adsense CTR is also not very good.  But it can increase your sites Alexa rank and possibly create a few returning visitors.

Articles

I haven’t done a lot of work with Article promoting.  But this technique involves writing lots a articles (preferably related to your site) and then include a link back to your site somewhere in the article.  Once you have a good set of articles written you can submit them to multiple article sites.

Links

Paid links can work sometimes and other times they can be a complete waste of money.  The trick to buying links, is to purchase them on targeted and related sites.  So if your site is about dogs.  Think about purchasing sites on Dog Food, Dog Sitters etc.   You can purchase links directly with webmasters through various forums such as DigitalPoint, or use a network like TextLinkAds
